Spring Vocab #2

Patronage- the financia support or business provided to a store, hotel or the like.

Cadence- rythmic flow of a sequence of sounds or words

Suffused- to overspread with or as with a liquid, color

Sieve- an instrument with a meshed or perforated bottom, used for separating coarse from fine parts

Centrifuge- an apparatus that rotates at high speed and by centrifugal force separates substances of different densities

Dentifrice- a paste, powder, liquid or other preparation for cleaning the teeth

Leisure- free time off of work

Vessel- a craft for traveling on water

Phonograph- any sound-reproducing machine using records in the form of cylinders or discs

Saccharine- of the nature of or resembling that of sugar

Profusion- abundance, abundant quality

Delinquents- failing in or neglectful of a duty or obligation

Gibbering- to speak inarticulately or meaninglessly

Insidious- intended to entrap or beguile

Strewn- to let fall in separate pieces or particles over a surface

Praetorian- person of high rank

Veiled- having a veil

Harlequin- a comic character in a commedia dell'arte and the harlequinade

Toil- hard and continuous work

  1. It looks like you are missing both the essay post game analysis and the parlor poetry assignment. You may want to step up your game a little because both assignments have been marked in the grade book but I do look forward to seeing them when you get around to posting them.
